Overview 

The Level 6 Occupational Health and Safety Qualification is intended to provide learners who hold or seek to hold managerial positions in organizations governing health and safety policies and practices. Learners will acquire the skills and knowledge to understand the legal and regulatory context of occupational health and safety policies, evaluate policies, and recommend and implement policy changes. Learners develop knowledge and skills to implement policy using management systems, resources, risk and incident management, leadership, management, and skill development.

Diploma-qualified individuals are eligible to apply for IOSH Graduate Membership.

Entry requirements

To be admitted to the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, learners must have:

Relevant her NQF/QCF/RQF Certificate or Diploma or equivalent certification covers the following key her OSH concepts:

Science and technology
Legal system
workplace safety and health
Definition of Risk and Principles of Risk Management
Principles and theories of safety and health management
Occupational medicine and hygiene
industrial psychology
Information Technology, Literacy and Arithmetic

Qualifications that fulfil this requirement include:

British Safety Council Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
British Safety Institute International Certificate for Occupational Health and Safety
NCFE IOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
NCRQ Level 6 Certificate in Applied Health and Safety
NEBOSH National General Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
An older learner (21+) with at least 2 years of her work experience
Learners must be 18 years or older at the start of the course

Equivalences
OTHM qualifications at RQF Level 6 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent level to Bachelor’s Degrees with Honours, Bachelor’s Degrees, Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Graduate Diplomas and Graduate Certificates.

Qualification structure
OTHM Level 6 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety

The Level 6 Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety consists of 4 mandatory units for a combined total of 32 credits for the completed qualification.
